La Mona Lisa.

The Mona Lisa is a painting by Leonardo da Vinci. It is the most famous painting of Western painting. It is a half-lengh portrait showing a woman who looks directly with an expression that has often been described as engimatic . Painted between 1503 and 1519, it is an oil painting on a poplar panel 77x53 cm. The technique used is sfumato (without lines or borders) in the manner of smoke or beyond the focus plane which is characteristic of Leonardo. The painting is owned by the French government and it is exhibited in the Louvre in Paris under the title Portrait of Lisa Gherardini, épouse of Francesco del Giocondo.
